Riken Perfumery is a “flavor” company that will bring enrichment to the 21st century.
Flavors is not confined to the chemical industry area of science, but rather it compels everyone in the entire organization to function as artists, drawing on the senses in a human oriented business.
Riken Perfumery was established in November 1952 with Riken, Institute of Physical and Chemical Research as its parent organization. The initial purpose of its establishment was to produce a flavor from the by-product of higher alcohol made from the synthetic sake called “Rikyu,” which was invented by Dr. Umetaro Suzuki and Dr. Okouchi. With subsequent success in developing other flavoring technologies, synthetic flavors, blended flavors, and gas odorants, Riken Perfumery established a production system that has fostered steady growth as a comprehensive flavor company.

Expanded the Haneda Plant

Established Osaka Branch

Completed construction of the Kikugawa Plant (Shizuoka Prefecture)

Acquired ISO9001

Established Riken Asia Flavors (Shanghai) Co., Ltd.

Relocated Headquarters to Shiba, Minato-ku, Tokyo

Established a two-company structure between Riken Perfumery Holdings Co., Ltd, which is mainly engaged in research and development and sales activities, and Riken Perfumery Co., Ltd., which conducts manufacturing-related operations.

Acquired ISO22000
