Riken Perfumery Co., Ltd. (Inc.)
Takahiko Nagai, President and CEO
Riken Perfumery was established in 1952 with the Umetaro Suzuki laboratory in RIKEN as the parent organization

The company motto is “Innovation through Technology.”
Detectable gas odors have contributed to the safety of a great many people in Japan. Food flavorings add aromas such as butter to lower cholesterol vegetable oils and fats, which in turn promotes good health.

Perfumery is an industry with great depth, with a broad range of applications including cosmetics, confectioneries, juices, detergents, and more. There are many areas that have not been investigated scientifically, and sense of smell is still not clarified well. From this perspective, there is a great deal of room for development in the perfumery industry. Riken Perfumery will continue to actively investigate these unknown areas and develop flavors fragrances.

While the company is not large, we continue to grow and enhance performance every year.
It is a company among a select few that recognizes individual personalities and has an environment where people can achieve personal growth.

Founding principle

Riken Perfumery is a “fragrance and flavor” company enhancing the 21st century.

Fragrance is not confined to the chemical industry area of science, but rather it compels everyone in the entire organization to function as artists, drawing on the senses in a human oriented business.
Riken Perfumery was established in November 1952 with Riken national research institution as its parent organization. The initial purpose of its establishment was to produce a flavor from the by-product of quality alcohol made from the synthetic sake called “Rikyu,” which was invented by Dr. Umetaro Suzuki and Dr. Okouchi. With subsequent success in developing other fragrance technologies, synthetic aromas, blended flavors, and gas odors, Riken Perfumery established a production system that has fostered steady growth as a comprehensive fragrance company.
